Day 2
Depart your villa and drive to Old Havana to begin exploring the city’s historical core by foot on a walking tour led by architect Ayleen Robaina. As you walk through Old Havana, stop to admire the city’s many squares and its cathedral. Talk with local residents, many of whom have returned to their homes that have been renovated by Habaguanex, the semi-private entity that manages the restoration of Old Havana.
Before lunch participate in an interactive musical workshop where you will learn more about the Cuban musical tradition. Cuban music comes from a culture of people whose ancestors were not originally from Cuba, and so their European and African (mostly) roots play a dominant role in anchoring its development of music in the country.
Once you understand the Cuban rhythms, there will be a salsa class to show you how the Cubans dance.
Enjoy lunch at a typical restaurant.
After lunch, continue with Ayleen for a visit the Nacional Hotel and enjoy a drink in the Hall of Fame.
Stop at the famous Coppelia (internationally known because by “Fresa & chocolate”, one of the most popular Cuban classic movies) to taste some of Cuba’s best ice-cream. The ice-cream parlor is located in a park and serves up to 10,000 customers a day.

Depart this morning and guided visit at the Museo de Bellas Artes, Cuban Collection. The museum’s origins date back to 1842 when the San Alejandro Art Academy started its collection, which forms the nucleus of the museum founded in 1913. It expanded greatly after Castro took over in 1959, notably with works from the private collections of Julio Lobo and Oscar Cintas.
From the museum, drive a short distance to NostalgiCar, a classic car mechanic shop. Here you will meet with the owner of the shop who will talk about his business.
Choosing your car to travel in, drive to lunch stopping in route at John Lennon Park where you can see a sculpture of the former Beatles member John Lennon, sculpted by Cuban artist José Villa Soberón. On a marble tile at the foot of the bench there is an inscription written, in Spanish, "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
Continue on in the classic cars to the home and studio of artist José Fuster for a private lunch. Fuster has turned his neighborhood into one enormous piece of mosaic art. His vast array of works evoking the nation’s African roots from ceramics to whimsical paintings drawn from ordinary life in Cuba: commuters crowded inside creaky, smoke-belching buses, the ubiquitous dominoes games in backyards and street corners.
After lunch, drive a short distance to enjoy a private performance of the dance/musical group Havana Compass. Liliet Rivera is the founder of Cuba Havana Dance Troupe, which is dedicated to the study and choreography of traditional and modern dances. In partnership with percussion artist, Eduardo Cordova, the troupe has created an exciting, diverse performance with traces of Spanish dance form, African-Cuban Jazz rhythm and modern dance.

Continue on to Havana’s Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña. Today La Cabaña, together with El Morro, is part of the “Parque Histórico-Militar Morro-Cabaña” (military-historic park) and houses several museums. The Cuban Missile Crisis Museum exhibits missiles and other items from the Cuban Missile Crisis period. The Museo de la Cabaña documents Cuba’s military history, and the Museo del Che is dedicated to the life of Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
Enjoy a pig roast lunch in Cojimar at Casa Grande. It was in Cojimar in 1762 that the English put ashore their invasion army and captured Cuba for King George. It is also the place where Ernest Hemingway berthed his legendary fishing boat, the Pilar III. Admire the bust of Hemingway made from brass fittings that each fisherman in the village donated after Hemingway’s death
From here drive a short distance to Alamar to participate in a baseball game, which we have invited some Cubans to join us for.
Before returning to your casa, visit the Havana Zoo. Opened in 1939, this is Cuba’s oldest zoo. It is also known as Zoológico de 26 and is one of the most popular places for Cuban families to visit. And although there are many different species, monkeys are still the main attraction. By the entrance, a sculpture by Rita Longa, Grupo Familiar en el Zoológico Nacional (Family at the National Zoo) stands out for its simplicity and beauty.

Wonderful and cozy
Alex , 08.01.2018
Villa Flora exceeded my expectations. My daughter and I spent some unforgettable days in this wonderful and cozy Villa. Every detail was very well kept. The service was impeccable and the staff very friendly. I have been in Cuba many times, in the “best private homes” in Havana, but I have never found, until now, a place with these facilities, excellent and full service, and amenities that you will never find in any Villa in Cuba, like free wifi available any time you need. It was an excellent experience. I definitly recommend Villa Flora if you are looking for a luxury private Villa in Havana.
Incredible service and a beautiful property

Incredible service and a beautiful property. The staff made us feel at home and were very accommodating, eager to help organize catering and transportation. We hope to stay here again next year.
Wonderful staff will exceed your expectations

Villa Flora and the wonderful staff will exceed your expectations. The house is beauftiful, spacious and spotless, and the pool and backyard are gorgeous; it’s the perfect refuge from a full-day out in amazing Havana. The breakfasts are fantastic (go easy on the Cuban coffee!), and Nidia and her staff are friendly, helpful and fun. I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Havana if you have a large group. I can’t wait to get back there.
Villa Flora will not disappoint!

Villa Flor was a welcomed departure from the busy and bustling Havana. The staff was amazing, catering to our every need with a smile. They take “ask and you shall receive” to a whole be level. From dinner reservations, to coordinating excursions and transportation, to curbing a craving for ice cream, our new friends took care of our every request without hesitation and with one simple (URL HIDDEN) my pleasure! After our busy days experiencing Havana we always looked forward to our return to our own luxurious Cuban retreat! Be assured…Villa Flor will not disappoint!
I would most certainly recommend Villa Flora

If you are traveling with a large group (our group was 10) I would most certainly recommend Villa Flora. Mel, the Host, is extremely helpful in planning reservations, tours, guides, transportation. We were able to make our own itinerary with Mel’s help and pay for some of our activities (Tropicana, Dinner in the home of a local musician) via AirBnb money request to help lessen the burden of the exchange rate and decrease the overall amount of cash we had to travel with as USA citizens. The staff was more the accommodating. They were there for our every need. There is a staff member there at all times for both security (it is not unsafe, but just as an added comfort) and service. Breakfast every morning was phenomenal and the staff welcomed us as if we were their family. One challenge was the location of the house. Taxi drivers just do not know where the particular area of miramar is (most likely because taxis typically are not dropping people off in this neighborhood). We had written directions in Spanish, screenshots of (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps, local maps of Havana and not one cab driver could easily find the house. The house is about a 5 minute walk from El Cocinero, a trendy new restaurant. We found it effective to direct cab drivers there, and then direct them to the house with a few (izquierdas and derechas) We worked with a local guide who aided in getting us around (arranged for transportation in 12 passenger Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van) and to all of our itinerary items. Ask Mel for the guide we had used and hopefully he puts you in touch with them. Between the staff at villa flora, our local guide, and a stacked itinerary – our trip to Havana was one of the more memorable trips for all 10 members of our party. We hope to return to Havana soon to see everything we did not have enough time to complete. I definitely would recommend leaving “open” time in your itinerary to walk around Old Havana during a Friday or Saturday afternoon to shop for local art, souvenirs, and eat lunch in one of the plazas. Walking around Old Havana is just like walking around the ageless cities of Europe. Beautiful and one of a kind.
Wonderful staff helped to make this one of the most memorable trips

Villa Flora and it’s wonderful staff helped to make this one of the most memorable trips for my friends and myself in years. We are all certainly looking forward to returning. I highly recommend this paradise in Miramar.
Perfect host & Perfect House
Rich , 08.01.2018
This was our first trip to Cuba and the house was perfect for us. We traveled with a big group, and we had plenty of space. Each bedroom was huge and comfortable, the common areas were awesome inside and out. Mel was an amazing host and provided everything we needed for an amazing trip.
Exceeded all our expectations
Eric , 08.01.2018
Villa Flora was a fantastic and perfect home base for our trip in Cuba. We arrived with 10 guys on a trip and were warmly greeted by Nidia and her staff, who served us great sangria right upon arriving. The house is awesome, with two rooms that are especially built for kings. The outdoor area has 3 hammocks, a great pool, a tennis / raquetball court which we used extensively, and several seating areas to hang out, smoke cigars, play cards, read, drink, etc. All of the bedrooms were nice and clean, featuring TVs (limited channels in Cuba) and air conditioners that worked very well, and were very necessary. There are also safes in each room. The house is located in Miramar within walking distance to many of our favorite places that we found, including El Cocinera, Fabrica del Arte Cubano, Casa de Musica (we found that to be overrated actually), 1830, and several other restaurants that the staff recommended and reserved for us. We were always extremely comfortable when home in the villa. THE BREAKFAST was possibly the best thing about the trip. Fresh mangos served daily from the tree in the backyard, pineapple, guava, several fruit juices, coffee, bacon, eggs made to order, and delicious bread served every day exactly when you request it the night before. For example, you could get home at 3am from a night out and tell the security guard you’d like breakfast at 9am – it will be waiting when you wake up. Overall, the trip was great and Villa Flora played a major role in that. All of the staff members were very friendly and helpful. It is good if some folks in your group can at least somewhat speak Spanish, but between some of us who halfway speak Spanish and the staff who halfway speaks English, we had no problems. Thank you Mel, Nidia, and the whole The staff at Villa Flora was impeccable and treated us very well. We appreciate all they did for us and make our stay extremely enjoyable and comfortable. The villa was in great condition and certainly exceeded all our expectations. I would highly recommend Villa Flora to anyone traveling with a small group to Havana.
Highly recommend this property.
Karrie , 08.01.2018
Highly recommend this property. Staff was incredible. The breakfast was delicious! They organised and assisted in every request. Thank you again Villa Flora!
